Join Father Andrew on Tuesday evenings beginning on October 13, 2020, at 7:00 PM for a 5-week study of St. Ignatius of Loyola's 14 Rules for Spiritual Discernment.
If you can't help but wonder what's going on in your prayer, in your heart, your busy life and why it can sometimes be so difficult to commit to growing in the spiritual life, you are not alone.
St Ignatius of Loyola has provided us with an amazing tool to understand the thoughts, feeling and desires that occupy our hearts and minds, and has helped us to know how to respond. His Spiritual Exercises have proven to be an invaluable teaching of the Church over the last 500 years. The principles St. Ignatius presents form a beautiful model for growth in our relationship with the Lord, teaching us how to discern the leanings of our hearts and to find freedom through them.
St. Ignatius provides practical tools that are directly applicable to the daily life of every Christian.
Fr. Andrew will present the life and teachings of St. Ignatius of Loyola that has impacted his own spirit life so profoundly. These sessions run in October and November. Sessions will be held as Zoom meetings and will be limited to approximately one hour.
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email with further details for attending the Zoom meeting. The series starts on Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at 7:00 PM.
Throughout the coming weeks, the individual session handouts will be posted on the individual session subpages to the left. Return each week to print or read the handouts and prepare for the class. It would be most helpful to have the handouts in front of you during the zoom class. Don't worry if you miss a session, all handouts will remain available throughout.
There will also be videos and resources to look at. Below is an introductory video presented by Fr. Timothy Gallagher, OMV, the leading expert on the life of St. Ignatius in the Uninted States.
Fr. Gallagher's book, The Discernment of Spirits: An Ignatian Guide for Everyday Living is available to purchase here. It is not necessary or required for the sessions and will not be directly used, but it is a tremendous resources for further reading on the subject.
