The St. Joan of Arc Guitar Group is a collection of singers and instrumentalists that provide liturgical music at the 4 p.m. Saturday Mass, year-round. Ken Madeleine has led this music ministry since 1970, focusing primarily on contemporary liturgical music and composers. The group practices Thursday evenings from 7:30 – 9:00 p.m. in the Choir Practice Room, accessed through the door to the left of the main church entrance from the parking lot.
Adult male and female voices are welcome! New members are asked to join rehearsals one month prior to participating with the group at mass. While the ability to read music is not necessary, a love of music, a good ear and a good voice are needed.
Instruments most often playing with this group include acoustical guitar, bass guitar, mandolin, piano and flute. Other instruments may be considered.
If you are interested in joining this group, please contact Ken Madeleine via email at kenmadeleine01@gmail.com.
If you wish to join this group for the 2019 Christmas Season, please plan to begin attending rehearsals by November 7, 2019. If you wish to join this group for the 2020 Easter Season, please plan to begin attending rehearsals by March 5, 2020.
In addition to Saturday afternoon mass, the group provides music for the 8:30 a.m. Mass every Monday and, at times, plays for other Holy Days, church events, etc.
Beyond our shared passion for music, we occasionally extend our friendship over a frozen custard at Wallys, a special picnic or group dinner.
We welcome you to add and blend your musical talents with ours!
